Abstract:

The talk presents a strategic vision for the global Internet's evolution. With IPv4 reaching its limits, IPv6 emerges as the critical foundation for a secure, scalable, and future-proof digital ecosystem. Ladid will outline how an IPv6-Only Internet can seamlessly enable advanced technologies?ranging from 5G/6G mobile networks and peer-to-peer IoT to cloud-native architectures, AI integration, and blockchain infrastructures. He will emphasize the convergence of these domains into what he terms the "MetaNet", a trustworthy, end-to-end environment supporting intelligent applications, immersive services, and enhanced cybersecurity. By connecting IPv6 with key enablers like AI and distributed systems, Ladid will highlight how the new Internet can drive innovation, economic competitiveness, and societal resilience.

Short Bio:

Latif Ladid is a globally recognized technology leader and visionary in next-generation Internet and networking innovations. He is the Founder and President of the IPv6 Forum, an international consortium dedicated to driving the deployment and adoption of IPv6, the cornerstone protocol of the future Internet. Ladid has held numerous leadership roles such as Emeritus Trustee at the Internet Society, Founding Co-Chair of the IEEE Future Networks World Forum, Board Chair of both the IPv6 Ready Logo Program and the IPv6 Education Program, and a member of the 3GPP Policy & Coordination Group. He is widely recognized for awards including the IPv6 Forum's Internet Pioneer Award (2002) and Lifetime Achievement Award (2016).
